Introducing Ho Ho to the baby in January 2011.

Here is Augie at 14 months - giving Ho Ho a big hug!

Augie starting to pull up on his playmat.....here he is about 7 months and yes - there is Ho Ho

Poor Sick Augie.....This was the first time he was sick in his life....he was just over 6 months old and caught the CROUP after only being in daycare for 3 days.....Yet Ho Ho was there to lend comfort

Introducing/Reintroducing "Ho Ho." Augie has never been a child that had a "lovey" or blanket or a special toy. He was never a pacifier baby either, nor did he suck his thumb. We were so paranoid to allow him to have anything in his crib, so he never really got attached to anything, however, he did always get his blue monkey out to play with when he was sick or feeling bad. Now all that has changed and the blue monkey is super important to Augie. He has even named him....."Ho Ho." We have no idea where this name came from or why it is the monkey's name, but that is definitely what August refers to him as. August just got over the Croup last week (first time sick in over 8 months!!! hopefully we can go on another streak like this!! YAY for Ms Gina!) and so when he was feeling bad, of course the blue monkey came out to comfort him, but then August started insisting that he come to bed with him....we figured he was just wanting the monkey because he was still feeling bad....but we were wrong! The first night he was all better, we placed him in his crib after bath, said "night night" and walked out...August usually talks himself to sleep by naming all his friends and talking about dumptrucks and balls.....but this night, Richard and I hear him calling out for "Ho Ho." At first we didnt know what he was talking about, then we figured it out....he had named the blue monkey and wanted it to sleep with. We quickly grabbed "Ho Ho" and stuck him in the bed and August was happy. From then on "Ho Ho" goes to bed everynight with August....he is his little friend to help him sleep :-) Hopefully "Ho Ho" lasts a long time because apparently he has been discountinued from Ty and is now a "collectible" so there will be no "Ho Ho" replacement.
Maybe he calls him HO HO because the Grinch Ho Ho was the first stuffed animal he would carry alot and it was santa so maybe all stuffed animals are referred to as Ho Ho. He thinks Santa is any stuffed animal Haha. I remember you telling me something about at Christmas when walking there was something that were all ducks because his duck was dressed that way.
ReplyDeleteIf you're really desperate for a replacement Ho-Ho, you can check ebay. People sell these loveys for waaaaaaaay more than market value b/c they know that parents will pay any price when one is lost and your kid is crying for it!! Luckily we've never lost ours but we've come close...hence the ebay searching!! :)
