Then and now

Mommy was reflecting on before I was born and how happy she is now that I am here! Here is a pic of me in mommy just 2 days before I surprised her and was born. The next pic is of mommy and me only 5 weeks later. A lot can change in 5 weeks! Even without sleep, they are the best 5 weeks our family has ever had :-)

My one month stats

I am Growing! Last week, I had my one month visit with my pediatrician. It took mom a week to blog about it because she was traumatized by seeing me get my first shot. She is already severely dreading the 2 month appointment when the mother-load of shots begins. I think it hurts her more to see me cry than the actual shot hurts.... when we were all done, she was crying more than me!

I am starting to fatten up! I finally realized that mom's milk tastes pretty good! Here are my stats at 1 month:

Weight: 7 pounds 4 ounces - 5%
Height: 21 inches - 25%
Head Circumference: 36 cm - 50%

So I am long and lean and have a very nice sized brain :-)

Easter is just around the corner....so I am looking forward to meeting everyone very soon....and mommy is looking forward to having visitors!!!!!

Doctor's orders......

On visitors....................

A lot of our family and friends ask when they can meet me. My pediatrician, Dr. Hamilton, has recommended that we wait until well after my original due date of March 26 before having visitors. Dr. Hamilton said since I came early, I can get a cold easier and she also wants to wait until we pass through flu season.

So my parents want to wait until after Easter before having visitors. So far I have only had a handful of visitors -> Grandpa & Grandma Heller, Grandma Dingley, Aunt Marci, Uncle Jeremy, and Great Aunt Millie. It isn't easy not having visitors to play with, but my parents just want to make sure I get healthy. Fortunately I am getting bigger and I'm up to 7 pounds now.

We hope everyone understands and I promise I'll get to meet you soon.

March Madness Baby!

Go Horns Go! Since the Aggies didn't win at 3pm, I had start cheering for the Longhorns against Duke!

Here are some pics of me cheering and watching the March Madness basketball games with Daddy. Thank you Troy for my soft "Hook'em Little Horns" blanket!

I think I need some A&M clothes now! ;-)

p.s. My Daddy said that there were some bogus calls in the UT/Duke game and he doesn't know why Coach Barnes was playing Balbay with Ward.

What's in a name?

Many friends have wondered how I received my name. I think a lot of people assumed that if I was a boy that I would receive the name Richard Dean Heller, III after my Daddy, since he is a Jr. When Mommy first got pregnant, her and Daddy talked about names and decided on a few they liked. Daddy came up with August Michael as a boy name and Mommy loved it. Here is how August Michael came to be and why it holds such a special meaning:

Mommy and Daddy were married in August. Daddy was baptized at San Augstine in Laredo, the same church that his parents were married in. I will also be baptized there. My grandpa Dingley was born in August. One of Daddy's favorite books books is "Lonesome Dove"; one of the main characters in that book is Augustus McCrae... Augustus was a bit too formal so my parents decided to do August and Augie instead.

The name August is actually short for Augustine/Augustus/Austin and St Austin's was the church that Daddy went to all through College.

I received Michael as my middle name after my grandpa Dingley, who passed away about a year before I was born. My middle name is to honor him.

I think my Daddy did an awesome job at coming up with a name that is strong, memorable, and special. I also love that I share my name with one of the best college coaches out there (UT Baseball Coach Augie Garrido)!

Maybe one day I will have a brother named Richard Dean :-)

Bath time

Bath - after math!

Tax Season

Ok, so I am not a deduction this year.....but Mommy and Daddy are looking forward to next year!

This post is in spirit of the season and oh yeah, my Mommy is a CPA. :-)

Happy St Patrick's Day!

You can't pinch me, I'm wearing green! Plus you wouldn't want to pinch a baby!

I'm Home NOW

Quack quack!

Here are some of my first pics home! I love my new home.... but I miss the nurses in the nursery....oh wait - maybe that is my parents that miss the nurses in the nursery....especially the night nurses who would take me so mommy and daddy could get some sleep!

My arrival home

Coming home!

I wore the A&M shirt my Mommy wore as a baby home 30 years ago.... and Daddy threw in some UT flare!

Also - look at the view from my Hospital room.... Daddy loved the fact that my first few days I woke up to a view of the UT tower (I liked it too).

Thank you for my gifts

Thanks Mark, Kelly, and Amber for this amazing Edible arrangement!!! Since mommy was not allowed to have sugar for SO long.....this arrangement was heaven to her! :-)

Thanks to Chrissy and Charles, ACC, Aunt Millie, and my grandparents for decorating my room with flowers and balloons!

My visitors

My grandparents were all in the waiting room to welcome me!

February 24, 2009

My Birthday. After I broke mommy's water at 5am, I put her through 12 hours of labor and 45 minutes of pushing. But I am worth every bit of that work and more.

Mommy almost made it without an epidural, but in the afternoon, she gave in and went for the drugs....

Thanks to my OBGYN, who is the best doctor in the world. I had a great delivery experience.
